People might wonder what I'm up to these days... or not. Probably everyone is concerned with his/her own life. And who wouldn't? Christmas - the time of family and friends - is drawing to an end and we're left in the interim time between now and New Year's Eve. Time to reflect on happenings from 2008 and making up wishes for 2009. Have you made your wishes?

12 Days of Christmas
Variations on the same theme:
...and I have to say that it is an odd little song. But hey, who am I to judge?

Diamonds...
are a girl's best friend.
The world's most expensive diamond is? ...A rare blue diamond weighing exactly 35.56 carat called the "Wittelsbach Diamond". It was sold some days ago for 16.3 million pounds at an auction!

The Whittelsbach Diamond, a priced, private property of the Wittelbach family has a 300 years history, being the inheritance of the family since 1722.
The coloured sparkler owes its history back to the year 1664 when it was gifted as a part of dowry by King Philip IV of Spain to his teenage daughter, the Infanta Margarita Teresa. The princess was engaged to her uncle Leopold I of Austria, who later became the Holy Roman Emperor. However the rare blue beauty's origin has been traced back to the Indian diamond mines which passed on to the heirs and found its way to a German dynasty, The Wittelsbach family in 1772 to be christened as "Der Blaue Wittelsbacher".
"Diamond's are a girl's best friend" by the one and only Marilyn Monroe
And a newer interpretation by Nicole Kidman in "Moulin Rouge":
Hmmm... which one do I like more? The performance which definitely coined the expression "Pretty in Pink" or the performance of Moulin Rouge courtesan Satine? Hmmm... tough call (^_-). No, not really. No one is better than:
Hmmm... it seems like Hollywood and diamonds really belong together (^_-)
P.S. Sad though if you think of the circumstances in which those pieces are usually found and how much pain they bring to a lot of people in order to delight only one.

Culinary Specialities
This is an exerpt from an official letter I got some days ago:
"We will be serving warm hors devours and refreshments."
Hors devours? Aha... hmmm.... yes, right. Bravo!
Or is it me and this is really supposed to be English?!? Because this word is actually known to Google!! Shocking! But come on, it has a French origin, so why this strange notation? Help? Anyone?

R. M. Rilke - Der Panther
